Crocker Renewal

Dear Wildcat Students and Parents,

Welcome to Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep (LDCCP), where students are prepared with academic and life skills for success in college, career, and beyond. It is an honor to serve the Crocker College Prep Community as your principal. The privilege of working with such a talented and dedicated faculty and staff, a tremendous student body, and a supportive network of parents and community members will only help push Lawrence D. Crocker towards new heights.

The teachers, staff and administration at Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep are committed to providing high quality education, along with relevant extracurricular opportunities, that will meet the needs and interests of all the students here on campus. As your principal, I challenge each and every student to take full advantage of all that is offered here at Crocker so that you can make your school life successful, enjoyable, and most importantly, meaningful. I truly believe that every student on this campus has the ability and the potential to accomplish great things!

With that being said, this year Crocker College Prep will participate in a routine evaluation process since this is the last year of our charter contract with NOLA PS. Crocker College Prep will be participating in a revised charter school renewal process this year. We want the parents to know that process is due to the following:

  • Students did not participate in state standardized testing at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year. Therefore, the state is unable to provide schools with a School Performance Score (SPS) and Progress Index (PI).

  • The SPS scores and Progress Index are two data points that NOLA PS uses in our standards for charter renewal.

Crocker College Prep currently does not meet the NOLA PS standards for automatic renewal and will participate in a Comprehensive Evaluation process this year. In addition to our school’s written submission, a public hearing will take place on Tuesday, September 22nd at 5pm via Zoom (Please use this link for tomorrow’s public hearing is https://zoom.us/j/93504727649). We will present data aligned with our current charter term, to the school board and superintendent to help inform everyone of our progress over their current charter term. We hope you can join us.

In closing, as you work through your years at LDCCP, I challenge each of you to set goals and standards that will be above those set by most school students. Your time at LDCCP is foundational to your future success, and I am confident about the positive impact each of our students will make in the world. I look forward to the challenges of tomorrow and, with that, I am excited about the future of our school. Together we will continue to move forward and find new ways to achieve academic greatness, further instill and inspire Wildcat Pride and traditions, and create lasting memories.

Alive with Wildcat Pride,

J'Vann L. Martin, Principal
